Chinese New Year 2018 welcomes the Year of the Earth Dog! WOOF! This is one of, if not THE most auspicious and important Chinese Festival, also known as "Spring Festival" (春節) when families and friends come together to enjoy great food, treats and happy reunions.

Traditionally, the festival was a time to honour deities as well as ancestors.[8] Within China, regional customs and traditions concerning the celebration of the Lunar New Year vary widely. Often, the evening preceding Lunar New Year's Day is an occasion for Chinese families to gather for the annual reunion dinner.
Whole Fish (清蒸魚) Chinese word for fish (鱼) also sounds like abundance (余), so for this lunar new year, 祝你新年快乐, 年年有余! (Happy Chinese New Year, wishing you a year of surplus and abundance!)
Golden Prawns 大蝦 (stir fried King prawns in salt egg yolk, symbolises "Liveliness")
Abalone (Bao yu, 鮑魚) “Bao” stands for assurance and “yu” stands for surplus and eating them means an abundance of surplus or wealth.
Turnip Cake 蘿蔔糕 at CNY symbolises "Good Luck"
Taro Cake 芋頭糕 symbolises "Growth and Achievement"
