Enjoying the culinary delights in the Lion City (Singapore)!
It was a fabulous few days of shopping, catching up with friends, but most enjoyable was the range of cuisine we managed to experience together. Let's begin this short journey, starting with two of their most famous signature delights at the Chatterbox restaurant in our most favourite hotel, the Mandarin Orchard (by Meritus Group):
Chatterbox chicken rice is one of the best in town. The portion is generous. The soup is praised more than any other components of the meal. The chicken meat is lean, tender and juicy. Generous amounts of chilli sauce, ginger paste and dark soy sauce are separately served in three small containers. These condiments are fresh and full of flavour. The Signature Lobster Laksa which is also a favourite at Chatterbox. Beautiful fresh lobster tails and claws which floats in a delightfully pungent laksa broth, slightly spicy, accompanied by pieces of tofu and quail eggs. This is a "must try" dish and is our first taste of the amazing cuisine to follow..
Another favourite place to eat for us, is none other than the Crystal Jade Restaurant, located on the 4th floor of Ngee Ann City, across from Takashimaya department store (always on our shopping itinerary LOL):
Steamed shrimp dumplings
Really tasty bbq spare ribs
Tender beef with rice flat noodles, bean sprouts and spring onions in a very tasty sauce
Moving on to yet one more fabulous place to enjoy good food at the Wheelhouse in the long established member only Tanglin Club, feast your eyes on these morsels of deliciousness!
Gentleman's cut Prime Rib, juicy and flavourful, with 2 types of potatoes, carrots, vine tomatoes and yorkshire pudding with a rich beef gravy, YUM
Chicken Satay with a delicious bites of coconut, refreshing cucumber, red onions and a moorish, spicy peanut sauce
Rojak: a traditional fruit and vegetable salad dish commonly found in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore
And..there's more, we met up with a lovely friend of mine at Din Tai Fung in Paragon:
Steamed Pork Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao): absolutely delicious, that explosion of flavour from the tasty soup within!
Steamed Crab Meat and Pork Dumplings, this takes the Xiao Long Bao to another level
Steamed Vegetarian Dumplings: filled with seasoned Chinese vegetables with mushrooms
Taiwanese 3-cup Chicken: Slightly spicy but tasty morsels of braised chicken with a special sauce, red peppers and garlic in a hot pot
Chilled Mango Pudding with Coconut Milk and fresh mango chunks.. kids love this and so does my Dad :)
Last but not least, Durian Bliss, for all those who have uniquely acquired a taste for this "King of Fruits", not for the faint-hearted, some might say LOL. Personally I love it, creamy and sweet..hmm..
